Ann Weaver is a Boston-based copyeditor and knitwear designer whose work has been featured in Knitty, Interweave Knits, Knitscene, K nit as well in numerous books. She has self-published two collections of patterns: Craft Work Knit (September 2010) and White Whale Vol. 1 (October 2011). Her work aims to create wearable, flattering garments from abstract concepts.
White Whale Vol. 1, Ann’s latest book, is a collection of patterns based on individual chapters of Herman Melville’s novel Moby-Dick. The patterns include two women’s cardigans, a shawl, a cowl, and a hat. Conceived as part knitting instruction,and part art book, White Whale Vol. 1 includes drawings by Matt Kish and quotes from Moby-Dick that connect each garment to its inspiration.
